Crepes to Cop

With a myriad sneakers talked about by a plethora of websites and bloggers, its pretty easy to lose track of whats being release, whats limited and what isnt. 

A blcklistd, we’ll attempt to try and stay on top of the highest profile release within London and the UK.

To kick things off, this weekend we have Jordan V Fire Red and Slam Jam x Asics Gel Lyte III (as pictured) which both drop on the 26th Jan ‘13. The Slam Jams is an in-store release at End Clothing, Foot Patrol and Hanon Shop. Jordan V are available at these outlets both online and physical.

22 Men’s Cork Lace Up Shoes by Maison Martin Margiela

In theme this season (especially with these on the horizon), these shoes by Maison Martin Margiela are made of a cork overlay and a glossy protective coating.

Not exactly an Object/Desire (for those that follow this blog) but a must cop for this season now available at Oki-Ni

La Pirogue
Grade: B
'Been a while since we've done a review however, La Pirogue has proved to be a solid re-entry into studying the subject matters within films and whether they deliver or not.
La Pirogue, French for ‘the canoe’ is a film about Senegalese compatriots looking to escape the poverty and reach the distant coasts of Europe where dreams can be fulfilled.
Throughout, the film captures the experience that takes place on the boat with some of whom have never seen the sea. With each family, at least one member heads off in a boat to try their luck in Europe. Why? the answer is simple. The lack of any kind of future; unemployment; and inequality of opportunity. 
The film highlights the drama behind migratory voyage illuminating the desperate and moving human story behind the morbid headlines often associated with illegal immigration.
This movie is a not a typical action/hollywood movies given the theme combined with the pace of the movie (which is understandable a lot slower). Nevertheless, its a welcomed changed. Shot in a conventional style without it being ‘flash’ or too opulent in colour, it is the reason why this movie has been awarded a solid ‘B’ grade.

Nike 2013 Black History Month Complete Collection

Black History Month in the UK is not given the due it deserves unlike its US counterpart. In the US of A, Black History Month is as relevant as Independence Day and that’s something to admire. 

2013 sees Nike in collaboration with its Sportswear and Basketball divisions produced a bold and vivid pack which reflects the campaign mantra “Be Bold, Be True”.

Majority of the products such as the LeBron X, Kobe 8 System and KDV features with the ‘BHM’ logo which has been uniquely created for this occasion and follows after the inauguration of the US President. 

A mighty fine pack and available from the 26th Jan in the US (UK release to be confirm - if at all).

…By the way check this special edition shoe which may also commemorate the month.

No Noise at Selfridges

The world as we know it has suffered from an information overload to the point that brands have been reduced to communicating via logos. Well thats what i think anyway. 

According to Selfridges and to paraphrase, The consumer is “increasingly bombarded with information and stimulation.” As a result, the world has become a ‘noiser’ place.

To address this, Selfridges has introduce “No Noise” a “store-wide” concept which invites consumers to indulge and revel in the power of quiet.

An idea initiated back in the last century by man of the moment Harry Gordon Selfridge (well he has his own TV show… Mr Selfridge), the idea has been brought into the 21st century through curation of the best minimalist design available for purchase in the “Quiet Room.”

Also dedicate website whereby logo free products such as Levis 501s, Heinz Baked Beans and Marmite can be acquired.

This campaign runs till the end of February 2013.

Alfred Dunhill ‘Turbo’ Lighters

A statement piece.

The sort of item you could flash and it would make Zippo lighter look like any ‘ol ‘Bic’ or ‘Clipper’ lighter. This is not to disrespect Zippo as they are a fantastic manufacturer of lighters but these ‘Turbo’ lighters are the sort of items that just look so damn desirable - even if you don’t smoke!!!
